Executive Education is an efficient way to make a direct impact, and it is most effective when approached as a 3-step event: preparation, the program, and application.

The ability to successfully apply the techniques learned in various programs starts before arrival at Rice University’s campus. Prior to the program, participants will receive information on pre-course readings and assessments. It important to complete and bring all materials in order to “hit the ground running” and use program time for discussion, consultation with the professor, and interaction with peers. Most material is completed independently, but some assessments require participation from colleagues. To ensure that you glean the most out of this feedback and to give our staff enough time to process your results, please follow all instructions carefully and complete each assessment on time.

Typically the pre-course readings will contain articles and case studies from the professor. See how to prepare a case study in order to learn more about this tool.

In addition to course material, you may need to make logistical preparations for course participation (flight or hotel). The Client Manager assigned to the course will provide information. Rice University is located between the two airports serving the city of Houston, and here is a campus map with driving directions. Visit our Frequently Asked Questions page for more details.

An often overlooked part of program preparation is adequately preparing supervisors, direct reports, and other colleagues. It is encouraged that you set expectations for your availability during the course. All of our programs offer breaks throughout the day and time for lunch, but participants are expected to be in class as many exercises and discussions are in small teams.
