Samantha A. Blackburn is a Marketing doctoral student in the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University. Samantha obtained her B.B.A. in Marketing from the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame in 2004. After completing her undergraduate studies, Samantha worked in the financial services industry for five years as an analyst and auditor. Samantha then earned her M.A. in Communication from the College of Liberal and Fine Arts at the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2011. While at UTSA, Samantha worked as a teaching assistant in the Communication Department and a research assistant in the Marketing Department. Her master’s thesis explored the idea that celebrities may influence the prosocial behavioral intentions of their fans through psychosocial relationships developed via social network sites. Samantha expects to earn her Ph.D. in 2016, and her post-doctoral goal is to become a business school professor at a research-intensive university. Samantha’s research interests include a variety of topics related to consumer behavior, especially social influence and decision making in the online context.
