Wylie Bernard (Ber) Pieper
Wylie Bernard (Ber) Pieper retired from Halliburton Company in January 1996 after a career of thirty-eight years. He currently operates a private office where he is active as an investor and continues to be involved in community and charitable activities.
Until his retirement, Mr. Pieper served as Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of Halliburton Company where he had reporting responsibility for the Company’s three operating units: Brown and Root, Inc., Halliburton Energy Services and Highlands Insurance Company. He served as Vice Chairman of Halliburton Company from June of 1992 until March of 1994, responsible for corporate office and internal activities such as finance and human resources. Additionally, he was responsible for quality improvement programs, strategic planning and organizational development activities on a company-wide basis.
Prior to becoming Vice Chairman of Halliburton, Mr. Pieper had been employed by the Company’s Brown and Root, Inc. subsidiary for thirty-five years. He was named President of Brown and Root in January 1989 and President and Chief Executive Officer in July 1990.
Mr. Pieper graduated with B.A. and B.S. degrees from Rice University in 1954. He is a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, a member of Sigma Tau and Tau Beta Pi engineering honor societies. He is a former member of the Board of Trustees of Rice University and is a member of the Council of Overseers for the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business.
