Patty Bender is the Executive Vice President/National Director of Leasing and has been with Weingarten since 1982. She is responsible for overseeing the leasing, marketing and merchandising of over 350 shopping centers throughout the nation. Weingarten’s leasing department is directly responsible for all transactions in existing assets and new developments. The department’s responsibilities include anchor tenant replacement, re-merchandising and repositioning assets.
In addition, Patty has been particularly focused on the design and development of the lifestyle centers owned by Weingarten Realty. Specifically, she was responsible for the development of Centre at Post Oak and the Village Arcade, both located in Houston, Texas. She is currently overseeing the redevelopment of the River Oaks Shopping Center in Houston.
During Patty’s tenure at Weingarten, she has directed Shopping Center Marketing, sales oriented marketing and advertising campaigns. She is involved with web site development, web based marketing and company branding initiatives.
In addition, she has developed and personally delivered training programs to the sales force. Each training session was developed by Patty and covered topics such as Sales Motivation, Leadership vs. Management, Cold Calling Methodology, Customer Development, and Retail Strategies and Market Analysis.
Prior to joining the company, Patty was a Senior Fashion Buyer at Foley’s Department Store. This experience has served to enhance her understanding of the shopping center business from a retail perspective.
Patty holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing/Management from the University of St. Thomas and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Westchester State College. She holds a Texas Real Estate Broker’s License and a Certified Property Manager Designation (CPM).
She serves on the Board of Uptown Houston where she also chairs the Uptown Marketing Committee. Additionally, she serves on the Advisory Board of Special Olympics and is a member of the National Charity League. She is heavily involved in volunteer work within the Houston community.
