Gary Carson is a lecturer at Rice University’s
Jones Graduate School of Business since 2010. He is president and owner of
Equamark, Inc., founded in 1995 to provide strategic marketing consultation to
businesses. Carson has over 25 years of experience in marketing management
including research and analysis, strategic planning, marketing communications,
advertising/PR and branding. He was
previously Marketing VP, EVP and President/COO for Telman Technologies, a
telecommunications systems and network services company. Prior experience
includes Marketing Programs Manager for Synercom Technology, Inc. and marketing
positions with GEO International, United Energy Resources Inc. (now part of
Occidental Petroleum), and Brown & Root Inc. (now KBR). Carson has served
as Executive Director of the American Marketing Association Houston Chapter
since 2003 and is a past president of the organization. In addition to Rice,
his teaching experience includes the University of Houston Clear Lake and the
University of Houston Downtown 2004-2011.
Carson earned his BA in Advertising from Texas Tech University where he
also did graduate studies in Mass Communications. He earned his MBA from the University of
Texas at Dallas.
