Lin Giralt

Lecturer in Management – ALP


Lin Giralt has a 20 year career in management consulting following 10 years in executive management in Agribusiness and Construction. His consulting focus is on providing services to start ups and midsized companies and organizations who require highly specialized analyses that integrate strategy, finance and organizational development to ensure success in a globalized economy. Trained as an architect at Rice, Lin is particularly strong in spanning across disciplines to develop creative ideas and insightful solutions. He especially good at evaluating business opportunities considering organizational capabilities and expected financial performance.

After graduating from Rice in 1982, he began his professional career as a Construction Manager, supervising the construction of several office buildings, industrial plants and a TV studio. He also worked as Exec. VP of a $7MM integrated agribusiness concern, handling sales, marketing and operations, including a 500 head cattle ranch and a plant that processed hot peppers for Tabasco and McCormick. He started as a consultant in 1991, as an intern with McKinsey & Co. and then served for four years as a Project Manager with Booz Allen & Hamilton in their Latin America Division. He started his own consulting firm with a partner in 1997.

Lin holds an Interdisciplinary B.A. degree from Duke University, the Master of Architecture degree from Rice University and an M.B.A. in Finance and Real Estate from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. He completed the Technical Analysis program at the New York Institute of Finance, coursework in Emerging Trends in Real Estate at Harvard’s Real Estate Institute and the Certificate in Market Research at Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administración (IESA) in Venezuela. Lin is a Certified Management Consultant, member of the Institute of Management Consultants and a Board Member of its Houston Chapter. He is rising Chair of the Rice Graduate Alumni Committee. For two years, he has been a Lecturer and Adjunct Professor of Management at the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University where he has taught in the Action Learning Project.

Lin has been interviewed on Houston television and radio concerning SME’s and Hispanic Business and is in demand as a speaker for professional and civic organizations on topics such as Innovation, Diagnostics for Small Businesses and Starting Your Own Business.
