Lanny G. Chasteen, Ph.D, is Professor Emeritus of Accounting at Oklahoma State University. Dr. Chasteen retired from OSU in 2008 after serving 39 years on the School of Accounting faculty, including 14 years as department head. He taught a wide variety of financial accounting courses during his tenure at OSU, including principles, intermediate, consolidations, financial accounting research, and accounting theory.
Dr. Chasteen has published in many high-quality accounting journals, including The Accounting Review, Accounting Horizons, and Abacus, and has presented seminars through the Center for Executive Education at OSU since 1972. He also coauthored six editions of a best-selling intermediate accounting textbook with McGraw-Hill.
Dr. Chasteen received the Oklahoma Society of CPAs Outstanding Accounting Educator Award in Oklahoma in 1991 (the first recipient) and in 2007. In 2006, OSU alumni and friends established the Lanny G. Chasteen Endowed Chair in Accounting in his honor.
