Suzanne Lehman Johnson

Suzi Johnson has been involved in employment and compensation-related matters for more than 20 years. She served as the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for ExpressJet Airlines (NYSE: XJT) where she participated in the analysis, preparation and presentation of compensation and benefit issues to the Board of Directors and Compensation Committee, as well as addressing all corporate legal issues. Prior to her employment with ExpressJet, she was an attorney with the international law firm of Vinson & Elkins where she focused on employment law for clients from a broad range of industries including energy, oilfield services, retail, banking, health care, technology, hospitality, manufacturing, and transportation. She has tried numerous cases in state and federal court and has also tried more than 30 arbitration cases.

Ms. Johnson is a board member for St. Dominic Village, a senior living facility in the Texas Medical Center, where she served as chairman and currently serves as chair of the compensation committee. She is also a board member for the Weekley YMCA where she serves on the community outreach committee. Ms. Johnson is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and has completed multiple director education and legal education courses, including courses focusing on executive compensation, audit committee, and other aspects relevant to the governance of public and private companies. She recently joined the Jones Partners board. In 2011, she completed an intensive Spanish language immersion course in Segovia, Spain.

Ms. Johnson is licensed as an attorney by the State Bar of Texas and authorized to practice in all courts in Texas. In addition, she is board certified in labor and employment law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She is rated AV – Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible rating for legal and ethical professionalism, and in 2010 she was recognized by the Houston Business Journal as Best Corporate Counsel — Legal Department of 2 to 10 Lawyers for her work as general counsel of ExpressJet. She is currently of counsel to the employment law firm of Muskat, Martinez & Mahony and also works as a neutral third party arbitrator/mediator to assist parties in resolving disputes in employment litigation, executive compensation, and commercial litigation.
