Career Rodeo brings jobs to MBA students and alumni
March 26, 2009 - Amid shrinking jobs and employment opportunities, the Jones Graduate School of Management offered alumni and current students access to higher-level postings and full-time positions at top companies through the 9th Annual Career Rodeo, Networking Event and Recruitment Fair held on Thursday, March 19, 2009. The premier event attracted more than 160 attendees and 30 recruiting companies including Cameron, Chevron, Ernst & Young, Leyendecker Executive Search Firm, Oceaneering, and The Methodist Hospital.
“Students and alumni were enthusiastic about the top employment opportunities. Participating companies were equally pleased about recruiting top-notch MBA talent,” says Yolander Albert, Associate Director of Employer Relations and Rodeo Coordinator. “They were confident that they found the right talent at the Career Rodeo event.”
Willie French, director of Talent Acquisition and Recruiting Strategies from The Methodist Hospital said that of all the recruiting events he’s been to, in his role, this was “among the best.”
The fair kicked off with a networking event of more than 80 people at the Houston Livestock and Rodeo where company recruiters had a chance to connect with Jones School administrators and students in an intimate and relaxed setting. In the opening session of the fair held at the Jones School, company introductions allowed attendees to learn more about the companies and to know their hiring needs which helped to guide registrants through the fair.
The event was co-sponsored by the Career Management Center, Cooper Industries, Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship, and the American Marketing Association-Houston Chapter.
