Marketing Symposium
2012 Marketing SymposiumThe Rice Marketing Symposium is an invaluable opportunity to hear from some of the brightest marketing minds in Houston. In 2011, some 250 business leaders, marketing practitioners, scholars and MBA students came together at McNair Hall to share their thoughts and ideas, and we are looking forward to even more participation in 2012.

Through this event, we seek not only to provide Houston-area marketing professionals with valuable education and insight into current marketing trends and best practices, but to strengthen relationships between leading marketing professionals and their respective organizations.

Marketing Research Camp
Every year, the marketing faculty with the assistance of the Jones School Marketing Club prepares and hosts “Marketing Camp.” In the past, professors, lecturers and researchers from other business schools such as Wharton, Chicago Booth, and others present topical presentations on research related to marketing for the benefit of the entire Jones School community. Past topics have included pricing, consumer behavior, and the correlation of service quality, price and competition.

Marketing Case Competition
In Spring of 2012, the inaugural Marketing Case Competition was held at the Jones School. Through the support of corporate sponsors, students have the opportunity to analyze marketing challenges, present paths of strategy, receive feedback from experts in the field and potentially win awards based on performance in the competition.

The competition allows for:

  • A compelling REAL marketing case from a corporate sponsor 
  • Teams of four to five MBA students locked in fierce competition 
  • Senior corporate executives at the judges' table 
  • $1,500 in prize money 
  • Great networking opportunities
