2nd Annual MBAP Holiday Party & Charity Giving Event
This past Saturday, December 3, the JSA-P hosted its 2nd Annual MBAP Holiday Party & Charity Giving Event.
The largest MBAP event to date, some 275 MBAP students, guests, and JGSB staff met at Minute Maid Park’s FiveSeven Grill in downtown Houston, to celebrate the end of a successful semester, and to reflect on the needs of those less fortunate.
It was a spectacular evening filled with food, drinks, dancing, and camaraderie, overlooking one of the nation’s most beautiful baseball fields.
The charity aspect of the event was a huge success, and the combined classes of 2012 and 2013 raised about $2,500 for the Small Steps Nurturing Center of Houston, in support of at-risk children in the Houston area.
Even more amazing is that, on top of the cash raised, the class will donate 115 winter coats for the children of Small Steps, just in time for the nasty cold snaps hitting our area.
If you would like to learn more about Small Steps, and the children to whom they provide assistance, please visit their website.
“Overall, it was a beautiful event, that was not only a blast, but one that we hope will make a real impact on a lot of deserving children in need. We had an amazing social committee that really stepped up to the plate to put this event together in a pinch. But, we couldn’t have done it at all without the invaluable help from Brooke Sabo and her team at the OSS, and Sean Ferguson’s generous support. By the end of the night, I just hope everyone had a great time – and, I think we all did,” said Jay Vinekar (MBAP ’12), MBAP-E Social Chair.
After some brief acknowledgements by JSA-P president, Tushar Chaudhry (MBAP ’12), celebrity emcees Vicki Jackman (MBAP ’12) and Louis-Philippe Fortin Burroughes (MBAP ’12) kicked the party up a notch with their hilarious banter and an exciting prize drawing.
The prizes included generous donations from Kiran’s Fine Indian Cuisine, DEFINE: body & mind Exercise Studios, the JSA-P, and the Houston Astros.
By the middle of the night, celebrity guest DJ Kool Emdee had most of the class tapping their feet to great tunes, while overlooking the gorgeously lit ballpark. Check out the photo gallery to see gorgeous pictures of the evening, taken by our very own Sam Mason (FTMBA ‘11).
