REFS 2011 Panel Bio - Mr. Bret West
Bret joined Wells Fargo’s Energy Group in 1998 managing a lending portfolio of oilfield service companies, manufacturers and drilling contractors. In 2000, Mr. West assumed the role of Manager of the Energy Services & Equipment Division of the Wells Fargo Energy Group, which provides financial service solutions to companies that participate in all facets of the oil and gas field development cycle. During his tenure, the division’s commitments have grown ten-fold to $4.6 Billion and Wells Fargo has established itself as a leader in syndicated loans, treasury and capital markets to the oilfield service sector as well as developed innovative products to the industry.
Bret holds a BA in Finance from Louisiana State University. He spent 10 years with Barnett Banks in Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida in various a commercial banking roles prior to joining Wells Fargo.
Bret is an active member of the Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association (PESA), National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA), International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC), Offshore Marine Service Association (OMSA), Association of Services Companies (AESC) and the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) and also serves on the Advisory Board of the Young Professionals in Energy (YPE) and recently been named Treasurer of NOIA.
Mr. West is the proud father of three children 17, 15, and 11. Bret is active in the Memorial area community where he enjoys assisting with coaching baseball and basketball with Spring Branch Memorial Sports Association and mission projects with Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church.
