Hands-on Learning
Students dive into the curriculum with hands-on exercises focusing on tools, business communications, and real-world cases:
- Team-building exercises including a fun competition to drop an egg from the second story of McNair Hall
- Calculator exercises on the time value of money and compound interest rates
- Stock market simulation in the Jones School's El Paso Finance Center - Nolan Waugh (Rice '04)
- Business Negotiation - "The Apprentice" - Mark Cory (RSBI Instructor '05, '06) - Protiviti
- Communications exercises - PowerPoint, making presentations, networking, resumes and cover letters, e-mailing
Team Business Analysis / End-of-Institute Awards Luncheon
During the final
few days of the Institute, cross-school teams conduct an in-depth business analysis. The
Institute culminates with team presentations on this analysis followed by the end-of-institute
Awards Ceremony / Luncheon.
