Rice Alliance Named 2009 Marketer of the Year by American Marketing Association
Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship at Rice University recognized by the American Marketing Association, Houston Chapter in the College/University Category
HOUSTON – (Jan. 11, 2010) - The Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship (Rice Alliance) was named American Marketing Association (AMA) 2009 Marketer of the Year by the Houston Chapter in the Education: College/University Category. The Rice Alliance of Rice University earned the award for the effective use of marketing to achieve its business goals related to its business plan competition, numerous entrepreneurial and educational programs, increased media attention and various professional and civic recognitions received in the last year.
The Rice Alliance and the other 39 Marketer of the Year Best of Category winners were selected from among 196 nominated companies, organizations and institutions by a vote of AMA Houston members combined with voting by a panel of local marketing and business leaders and educators. All Best of Category winners were asked to submit detailed information on their marketing programs for consideration for Houston’s 2009 Marketer of the Year. The winners will be recognized and the overall winner announced on March 15, 2010 at the Alley Theatre.
“We’re honored to be recognized by the Houston Chapter of the American Marketing Association for our marketing efforts,” said Brad Burke, managing director of the Rice Alliance. “We have an incredible group of people at the Alliance and they recognize the vital importance of marketing in achieving our goals of supporting technology commercialization, entrepreneurship education, and the launch of technology companies. We hope to share this knowledge and respect for marketing with the entrepreneurs and students we assist.”
The Rice Alliance marketing efforts are lead by marketing director Mary Lynn Fernau with collaboration from Rice Alliance members, Kerri Smith, Yanette Jimenez, Quynhmai Nguyen and Lea Aden Lueck.
