Rice MBA expands to offer another weekend option
January 30, 2008 — Responding to requests from applicants seeking a high quality MBA program on a weekend schedule, the Jones Graduate School of Management at Rice University is adding a new weekend option in the Rice MBA for Professionals program. The Jones School already offers a weekend program through the Rice MBA for Executives program; however, the Executives program is designed for individuals with 14 years of work experience.
Beginning in fall 2009, the second weekend format creates flexibility for young professionals pursuing the prestigious Rice MBA. The current Professionals program with classes held Monday and Wednesday evenings has been popular following its launch in 2006. The new option covers the same rigorous curriculum and meets alternating weekends on Friday evenings and all day Saturday.
“Our current MBA for Professionals program offered on weeknights has experienced tremendous success, however, we recognized that there was an underserved market for a high-quality weekend MBA for professionals in Houston,” said Melissa Blakeslee, director of admissions for the Jones School. “The Jones School recognized an opportunity to provide greater value and add flexibility to the program.”
The Rice MBA for Professionals program was designed for individuals who are interested in accelerating their careers by earning an MBA, but who want to continue working. All Rice MBA programs share the same rigorous curriculum and full-time faculty as well as the cutting-edge facilities of McNair Hall located on the Rice University campus. The Rice MBA programs combine a highly effective core with the flexibility of selecting from a variety of electives.
In these increasingly challenging times, the Jones School at Rice University continuously focuses on innovating ideas to meet the changing demands of the business world,” said Jones School Dean Bill Glick. “We especially strive to contribute to the Houston economy by providing the next generation of leaders with increased educational and career opportunities and the leadership and business skills needed for success.”
