Jones School to co-host talk on rebuilding Rwanda

January 20, 2009 - The Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management, Beyond Traditional Borders, Rice 360°, and the World Affairs Council of Houston is hosting Dale Dawson, the founder and CEO of Dallas-based relief agency Bridge2Rwanda. He will deliver a talk at Rice University titled “Creating Tomorrow's Leaders to Transform a Nation” at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 22.

Dawson will discuss the agency’s efforts to build schools and businesses by mobilizing “borrowed talent,” which he characterizes as “smart, humble and committed individuals from around the world” drawn to Rwanda to help develop the country.

Dawson, who formed the agency in 2002, is an adviser to Rwandan President Paul Kagame and to the Rwanda Development Board. He helped found and serves on the boards of the nation’s Urwego Opportunity Bank and Muhabura University.

The free talk at Duncan Hall’s McMurtry Auditorium is open to the public. A reception will follow in Martel Hall.
