Credit Suisse’s Osmar Abib to Speak at Jones School
Nov. 19, 2008 — The Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management at Rice University today announced that Osmar Abib, managing director of the Global Energy Investment Banking Group at Credit Suisse, will address MBA students on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. at McNair Hall as part of the Dean’s Lecture Series, an educational program that brings exemplary business leaders to the Rice campus to speak about a variety of relevant topics. At the upcoming event, Abib will address recent developments in the banking sector and their impact on client coverage. The lecture will be immediately preceded by a reception at 6 p.m. at McNair Hall.
“We are so pleased that Mr. Abib has agreed to take part in this unique educational series at Rice,” said Bill Glick, dean of the Jones Graduate School. “With his investment banking expertise, particularly in the oil and gas sector, he will provide valuable insight to our MBA students and others in the business community who attend the lecture.”
In his position at Credit Suisse, Abib works within the investment banking division based in Houston. He is the global head of oil service coverage, the co-head of the oil and gas group for the Americas, and the head of the Houston regional office. Additionally, Abib is a member of the firm's investment banking financing committee and has extensive public offering and mergers and acquisitions experience in the oil and gas sector. Abib received a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Rice University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
