The Jones Graduate School of Business (JGSB) at Rice University invites applicants for an anticipated non-tenure-track full-time position of Professor in the Practice of Accounting and Director of MAcc Program beginning July 1, 2014 (subject to the university approval). JGSB is in the process of re-launching its Master of Accounting (MAcc) program with an anticipated matriculation date of Fall 2016. The primary responsibilities of the position will include teaching courses at the undergraduate level and/or in various masters programs, and taking a leadership role in the re-launch and future administration of all aspects of the MAcc program. Applicants must be highly self-motivated; have strong leadership traits; be proactive in identifying and addressing program challenges and opportunities; be willing to manage effectively multiple responsibilities; be able to work collaboratively with other faculty, staff, students, and administrators; and be able to maintain robust relationships with external stakeholders (feeder schools, alumni, recruiters, state board, etc.). Compensation package will be highly competitive.
The re-launch of the MAcc program at Jones Graduate School of Business represents the continued commitment by the school to innovate and develop new educational programs, which in the past five years has resulted in the successful introduction of expanded offerings including the Rice MBA for Professionals weekend and evening programs, a Ph.D. program and an undergraduate business minor for students at Rice University. Several graduates of our original MAcc program are in leadership positions in various prominent organizations. The expectation is that the re-launched program would be a vehicle to offer opportunities for our graduates to attain similar success. The re-launch has attracted the support of the alumni of the program which has resulted in affirmative philanthropic opportunities.
Prior experience as director of a master of accounting program or in other similar administrative positions is highly desirable. Ability to teach different courses and evidence of superior teaching performance are required. A Ph.D. in accounting is required for this position, although those who have completed all but the dissertation requirement for a doctoral degree in accounting may be considered. CPA and other professional certifications are desirable.
