Bo Bothe '05
A founding member of BrandExtract, Bo acts as brand strategist and president of the firm, working on brand development and strategy for its clients and guiding its culture and strategy.
Bo is involved with many business, community and communications-related organizations, such as the Rice Alliance for Entrepreneurship and Technology, the Jones Partners, AIGA Houston, CancerForward (of which he is a founding member), Cristo Rey Jesuit and various others. He has sat on numerous boards and is currently an Entrepreneurship Institute board member. Bo is a past president of AIGA Houston and has served on various national task forces for that organization.
Bo and BrandExtract's work have consistently earned recognition from local and national competitions and publications, including AMA Houston, Art Director’s Club of Houston, BMA Houston, DSVC, Graphic Design USA, Graphis, Communication Arts, Print Magazine, Logo Lounge and The Black Book AR 100. In 2009 Bo was recognized in the inaugural 40 under 40 class by the Houston Business Journal.
For three years prior to a 2005 merger with Jonathan Fisher, he owned and operated his own firm, Kern Design, working on corporate, investor and consumer branding initiatives. He has worked with internal, external, HR, IR and IT corporate groups to direct and implement communications programs.
Bo received his MBA from the Jones School at Rice University in 2005 to complement his 1992 undergraduate degree in Design Communications from Texas Tech University. A native of Houston, Bo attended high school at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory and lives with his wife Heather and four children in Spring Branch.
