High school students are coming to campus this summer to immerse themselves in the world of business and finance. Through the Jones Graduate School of Business' innovative Rice Summer Business Institute (RSBI), 40 juniors and seniors from local high schools will learn about the stock market, managing portfolios, brand dominance and entrepreneurship, among other topics.
The students will spend about 70 hours over their summer vacation analyzing stocks, learning about the world of energy and connecting with some of the most prominent names in Houston business.
The competitive program is provided free to the students, who are from low- and moderate-income communities, and runs June 11-26. In addition to spending time in the classroom, students will get some real-world experience through field trips to businesses and corporations, such as RSBI sponsors Bank of America, Merrill Lynch and ConocoPhillips. RSBI is also supported by the Robert and Janice McNair Foundation.
