Professor Zeff lectures on accounting in seven Australian universities

The Herbert S. Autrey Professor of Accounting, Stephen A. Zeff, a renowned researcher and expert in international accounting, recently conducted a three-week lecture and seminar tour of seven Australian universities. In addition to giving seminars at each of the universities, Dr. Zeff gave public lectures in Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Sydney.
 
The tour included the prestigious 3rd annual Ken Spencer Memorial Lecture in Sydney under the auspices of the Australian Government's Financial Reporting Council, which oversees the setting of Australian accounting and auditing standards, and of three national professional accounting institutes. Dr. Zeff was the first academician to deliver the Spencer Lecture.
 
During the tour, Dr. Zeff also made presentations to the Australian Government's National Audit Office and the Department of Finance and Deregulation.
 
The tour comprised visits to Monash University, RMIT University, University of Melbourne, University of Adelaide, University of Western Australia, The Australian National University and the University of New South Wales.
 
Dr. Zeff has extensive knowledge acquired from researching the standard-setting process in eight countries. In 2007, Oxford University Press published his book, Financial Reporting and Global Capital Markets: A History of the International Accounting Standards Committee, 1973-2000, coauthored with Kees Camfferman, of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
 
Dr. Zeff received the 1999 Outstanding International Accounting Educator Award by the International Accounting Section of the American Accounting Association. In 2002, he was inducted as the 70th member of the Accounting Hall of Fame at Ohio State University.
