Dean's Lecture Series Welcomes Robert Simpson, Senior Vice President and CFO, Waste Management, April 2

HOUSTON, March 23, 2007—Robert Simpson, senior vice president and chief financial officer, Waste Management, Inc., will speak at the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management, Dean's Lecture Series on Monday, April 2, on “Evolution from a Roll-Up to a Successful Operating Company.” Simpson's lecture will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Shell Oil Foundation Auditorium, Janice and Robert McNair Hall, Rice University.
 
The Dean’s Lecture Series, which has been in place since 1997, is complimented by a new series begun this year, the Executive Lecture Series. Both lecture series bring exemplary business leaders to speak to the Rice MBA, MBA for Executives, and MBA for Professionals students. The Houston business community is invited to attend these lectures without charge.
 
About Robert Simpson

 
Robert Simpson is senior vice president and chief financial officer of Waste Management, Inc., a Fortune 200 company with revenues in excess of $13 billion and nearly 50,000 employees. As the leading provider of integrated waste services throughout the United States, Waste Management has shown solid performance over the years and is a valuable partner for its 21 million residential, industrial, municipal, and commercial customers.
 
Simpson is responsible for the financial affairs of the company–including financial reporting, treasury, tax, and financial analysis–previously, he was senior vice president and chief accounting officer. Before joining Waste Management, he served as vice president and general manager of Tenneco Business Services.  Prior to 1990, he worked for Phillip Morris as director of federal taxes with the Kraft General Foods Division.
 
Simpson received a bachelor of science in accounting from Indiana University School of Business and a juris doctorate from the University of Illinois College of Law.
