James Hawthorn

Mr. Hawthorn is a Director in the Global Mergers and Acquisitions Group at Barclays, based in New York. Mr. Hawthorn’s has significant experience in a wide variety of M&A transactions and is focused on the Power, Utilities and Infrastructure sectors.

Prior to joining Barclays in 2008 following its acquisition of Lehman Brothers’ operating businesses, Mr. Hawthorn held the same position within Global Mergers & Acquisitions at Lehman Brothers. Before joining Lehman Brothers in 2005, Mr. Hawthorn was a commodities trader in various divisions of Enron Corp.

Mr. Hawthorn is a graduate of Vanderbilt University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 1998. He also earned an M.B.A. from the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management at Rice University, where he was a Jones Scholar, in 2005. Mr. Hawthorn serves as President of the Board of Rice University’s Jones Graduate School Alumni Association.

Mr. Hawthorn resides in New York City with his wife, Catherine and their two children.
