Francisco Castro ’02

Francisco is a founding member of Aliant Capital SA de CV, a Mexican corporation engaged in financial consulting and financing middle to small companies. He acts as president and CEO of the firm.  Previous to his present venture, Francisco acted as CFO of a Mexican publicly traded industrial company.  Before that, He held several leading positions in financial companies such as Asemex- Banpais and Citicorp in Mexico mainly in corporate finance and investment banking.  Francisco also acted as an independent financial consultant in M&A and financial restructuring for Mexican companies in Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and the U.S. 

Mr. Castro studied economics at the ITAM where he also received a degree in corporate finance.  He earned an MBA from the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University where he was an FEI Scholar in 2002.

“An MBA was on my bucket list since I was in High School. Earning one from an internationally prestigious school was a difficult task for a foreign student who has lived through more economical crisis than I would like to remember and took me a while to achieve my goal.” 

Francisco serves on the alumni board of the Jones School, and stays involved with the school by helping with the organization of MBA student trips to Mexico. He also works with the Jones School’s admissions department when visiting Mexico.

Francisco lives in Mexico City with his wife Araceli and three children, Ximena who is in her 3rd year of college (International Business), Francisco who is doing social service in South Africa before joining college (Chemical engineering), and Natalia who just came back from doing her 8th year in Shawnigan Lake, BC.  He has completed five full Marathons as well as ten Houston half marathons.  He enjoys show jumping, horse racing and photography.
